Artist Statement

My portfolio consists of all of the projects we have done this semester and also some from last semester. I feel that I did a pretty good job at getting all my projects turned in and in the right order. I enjoyed working on this portfolio and showing my work. I feel over all my portfolio has turned out really nice. Over the course of this semester I have learned several things that have helped me out. The thing I learned the most was how to blend things very well.
The thing I feel I was most successful with would have to be my ideas. All my ideas were excellent in my opinion and it showed through most of my pictures. The thing I struggled with the most would have to be ISO. I don’t think I did to well on that because many of my pictures came out slightly blurry. I think I need to get a better understanding on that so it can help me to improve on picture taking.
The thing that has influenced me most is really just the person I am inside. In the pictures I wanted the real me to be captured so people could actually see the person I am. The area that I feel I have improved best in was incorporating my ideas into my photographs better. I put a lot of effort into most of my projects. I think I am slowly but surely starting to get the hang of photoshop. I enjoyed this class for the year and recommend it to everyone.

Self portraits

Self Portraits
Going into this project I wanted the pictures to capture the real me, the person that I am. I kept my same ideas with all the pictures except for one of the. What made three of the four pictures most creative were the angles the photo of me was taken. The angles of some of them make you feel as if you were actually there and a part of it. The hard part of this creativity was choosing which angle would best fit for the setting or idea being captured.
When it came to composition it was kind of hard trying to figure out where things should be placed to keep the picture strong. I think I should have made better decisions on placing some things where they were placed. My photo with the best composition in my opinion was my light photo because how it’s placed makes you feel more involved. One of my photos had very weak compositions because I was placed too far back. If I could change it I would place my self close enough to be seen.
Considering craftsmanship I feel it could have been way better. One of my pictures are pixilated and another is kind of blurry. I feel the ISO should have been worked with better than it was when taking these photos. Some of my strengths were that some of my pictures turned out well and as clear as I wanted them to be. My weakness is that I should have had a better understanding of ISO and shutter speed because it would have helped me out a lot.
I feel that I had great ideas as far as what I wanted the photos to be about, or what I wanted happening in them. I feel that I expressed myself in most of the pictures. My favorite one was the light, also my favorite thing photo. I liked my idea in the two and feel the picture was nice maybe a little pixilated. My very least favorite was the elements photo because I had no idea what I wanted to do and the picture was the least clear of them all. Over all I feel that I expressed myself pretty well and enjoyed the project.

Shutter speed

In these pictures we messed with the shutter speed on the camera making it very slow. Then we tried to keep our body's very still for 15 seconds. During that time we had light sources. During that 15 seconds we made a particular shape waving the light source to make that shape.

ISO

In the flash photo you have a normal outcome. Its not to bright and not to light, it looks like any other picture you would take. In the ISO 50, the subject is really dark but you kind of see the background lights pretty good. So it would be best used if you are taking pictures of some kind of background that has lights. And in the ISO 5000, the background and subject is extremely bright and pixilated. you would use this one if it was extremely dark and you were going to be able to still have a nice picture, so that it won't be really bright.

metering

We experimented with light metering in these photo's. To do this we turned the lights off in the room, turning only one computer screen on per person. Then we pointed the camera clsoe to the computer screen and let the camera adjust to the light on the computer. We then pulled away and took a picture of our group partner. We noticed in the picture that it came out light because the camera adjusted to the bright computer screen and nothing else.
In the second picture we did something simiar except we placed the camera next to our partners face and pulled away making the person look brighter and the computer screen being REALLY BIGHT.
